Concept
The piece is dedicated to the inner experiences of coma patients. They lie still, often for weeks, sometimes for months. But inside, there is a lot going on. Journeys through fantastic worlds, the feeling of flying or being pursued, creature-like figures that take control of the body or show their threatening grimaces. Sometimes it feels as if strange sensations are affecting the body: it is experienced differently from its previous every day actions, for example appearing as constantly being reassembled.
While no movement is perceptible to visitors and carers from the outside, spaces and times unfold in the mental world of the coma: these are perceived as disturbing, or even as a literal horror trip. However, reports after coma also tell of pleasant feelings, even to the point of not wanting to wake up at all.
It is this inner turmoil in the outer silence that Veronika Riz translates and brings to life together with dancers Einav Berkovich, Marcel Casablanca, Seungju Lee, and Julianna Walczac. The piece wanders along the states experienced by coma patients: mental worlds are transformed into moving spaces, and temporary disembodiment is shaped into embodied form.
The ambivalence of silence in motion also touches on broader questions of power and literal powerlessness in light of the crises and overwhelming circumstances we currently find ourselves in.
„Die innere Bewegtheit in der äußerlichen Stille ist es, die Veronika Riz gemeinsam mit den Tänzer*innen Einav Berkovich, Marcel Casablanca, Seungju Lee und Julianna Walczac umsetzt und übersetzt.
Ausgehend von dem Kurzfilm « Pfauenschrei » wandert das Stück entlang der von Koma-Patient*innen erlebten Zustände: gedankliche Welten transformieren sich in choreographische Bewegungswelten, die Ambivalenz von Stille in Bewegung berührt dabei auch übergeordnetere Fragen von Macht und buchstäblicher Ohnmacht, angesichts der Krisen und Überwältigungen, in denen wir uns aktuell befinden. Getragen von der Komposition von Berk Offset und dem Bühnenbild von Alberto Scodro dem Kostümbild von Dagmar Gruber (Dama Studio)und der Dramaturgie von Susanne Foellmer gelingt es Veronika Riz eine Reise durch fantastische Welten aufzufalten, die das Gefühl, zu fliegen oder verfolgt zu werden, kreatürliche Gestalten, die sich des Körpers bemächtigen oder drohende Fratzen zeigt.
