WE SUMMER

How can we deal with the possibility of always knowing everything? What do we make of the fact that we can give our life another turn each and every moment? Is it of any help that we can put ourselves into every possible and impossible situation?

The dance piece by Italien choreographer Veronika Riz deals with the difficulties of a society in which all options are open for everyone and nobody knows if a specific moment might not demand a completely different decision. Five dancers from five different countries and a musician create a world on stage in which the unexpected conquers the disarray and privacy of everyday life like a surreal invasion and everyone’s own cosmos turns out to be a house of cards built out of assumptions, expectations and desires. However, the abyss made visible by the collapse is covered up quickly and routine soon rules again until the next cleft appears.

The project fluctuates between the extremities of alienation and egocentrism. We are either an immediate part of things that we do not understand or we overlook them from a distance. Moving from one state to another, turning from participating perception to dissociated comprehension is an attempt to find ease again amid all the possibilities.
